Cracked or fractured teeth are common dental occurrences.

Causes of cracked teeth:

  • biting hard objects
  • trauma
  • grinding or clenching

Symptoms of a cracked tooth may include:

  • unexplained pain when eating
  • sensitivity to warm and cold foods
  • pain with no obvious cause
  • difficulty pinpointing the location of the pain

How cracked teeth are treated:

  • watching to see if the symptoms subside
  • placing a crown on the affected tooth
  • performing root canal therapy prior to placing a crown
